Turning one photo shoot into two weeks of posts

A good shoot produces thirty usable frames and one post. The other twenty-nine sit in a folder. This is how they become a fortnight.

The expensive part is the light, the setup and the hour. Once those are paid for, every extra frame is nearly free — and most people leave that value in the folder.

Shoot for variety, not repetition

Wide, medium, close. Hands. The tool. The mess. The finished thing from two angles. Fifteen minutes of deliberately different frames gives you a series instead of a set of near-duplicates.

Sort once, hard

Pick the frames the same evening, while you remember what you liked. Twelve to fifteen keepers is plenty. Delete the rest; a folder of two hundred is a folder you never open again.

Drop the folder, pick the slots

An image uploader takes the whole folder at once: each frame becomes a post in the next free slot of your posting schedule. Write one caption that fits the series, then change the two or three that deserve their own line.

One shoot, spread across the schedule.

Leave gaps for the things that happen. A fortnight fully booked with shoot frames has no room for the Tuesday that turns out to be interesting.

Stop watching the clock. Start drifting.
