How the evergreen queue and A/B first lines work

Mark the posts worth repeating, set a minimum per week, and the calendar tops itself up with your best ones — resting each at least three weeks.

A post reaches a small share of your followers, once. A how-to from March is new to everyone who arrived since. The evergreen queue repeats such posts for you — only when the calendar is thin, only from your posting schedule's slots, never twice in a month.

Marking posts

  • In the composer: the Evergreen checkbox. Tick it for guides, favourites, the post that explains what you do. Leave it off for announcements and dates.
  • After the fact: Analytics → Top posts → Make evergreen. A post that did well is the best candidate.

Switching the queue on

Settings → Evergreen queue: on, and the minimum posts per week. Once an hour the queue looks seven days ahead. If fewer posts are scheduled than the minimum, it copies evergreen posts into the free slots of your posting schedule — the ones with the most reach first, then the ones not seen for longest. A post rests at least twenty-one days between runs, and at most three are added per hour.

A repost is an ordinary scheduled post in the calendar, marked as a repeat of the original. Edit it, move it or delete it like any other.

A/B first lines

Tick A/B first line in the composer and write a second opening. When the post goes out to several networks, each gets one of the two — A, B, A, B. The nightly collection records the reach of each; Analytics → A/B first lines shows both numbers and the winner. When the evergreen queue repeats that post, it uses the winning line.

Two networks are the minimum for a test, and one run is rarely proof. The card marks a winner only when both variants have numbers and they differ.

Stop watching the clock. Start drifting.
