How to answer every comment and message from one place

The inbox pulls Instagram and Facebook comments and messages, Threads replies and X mentions into one list. Here is what it reads, what it can do, and what it cannot.

Open Inbox in the sidebar. The first time, it asks every connected account for the last thirty days; after that it checks when you open the page and once an hour on its own. The badge on the menu item is the number of items nobody has answered yet.

What arrives

  • Instagram: comments under your posts (including replies to replies) and direct messages
  • Facebook Page: comments under Page posts and Messenger conversations
  • Threads: replies under your threads
  • X: posts that mention you

TikTok, Telegram, Pinterest, LinkedIn and YouTube do not give third-party apps access to comments or messages, so nothing from them appears — that is their rule, not a missing feature.

What you can do with an item

  1. 1Reply — the answer goes to the network first, and the row is marked only once the network accepted it. Your reply stays on the row, so the list itself answers "did we respond?".
  2. 2Hide — for comments. Everyone but the author stops seeing it; no argument, nothing deleted in public. Unhide if you change your mind.
  3. 3Open — the post or thread on the network itself, for anything the list cannot do.

Filters worth using

Unanswered is the working view: it drops everything you have already replied to or hidden. Messages alone is the inbox for enquiries — bookings, orders, collaborations — where a slow answer costs money. The account picker narrows to one network when you are in that mood.

Networks accept a reply to a direct message within 24 hours of it arriving. After that the message is still here to read, but the answer has to be typed in the network's own app. Comments have no such window.

Stop watching the clock. Start drifting.
